Do you like your youth ministry volunteers? Do you want them to keep serving with you? Then you'll want to get pretty well acquainted with the following list. Not sure where to start? Here are some directions: 1) Apply generously to everyone on your youth ministry team. Lather if needed. 2) Rinse. 3) Repeat.

Stuff Volunteers Like LOVE

1. Smiles
2. Teenagers who say "Thank you!"
3. Name tags that clearly identify them as a leader (you know you have a few leaders who are in their 20s but look like they are thirteen)
4. Starbucks when they have to be at church at 5am for the mission trip
5. Information
6. A heads-up on what your message will be about at youth group
7. Thank you notes
8. Short meetings
9. Laughing with their teammates
10. Texts
11. Short emails if an email is necessary
12. To know you are praying for them
13. Calls just to see how they're doing
14. Not having to pay to go on a summer trip that they are already using precious vacation time to go on
15. Knowing exactly what you expect of them at youth group
16. Feedback
17. Birthday cards
18. Knowing about events more than a month in advance
19. Knowing they can call you if a girl in their small group has a crisis they don't know how to handle
20. Knowing that you'd still love them even if they weren't a youth volunteer
