I noticed something different about myself when I got back. We returned late Saturday night, and I had to be at church Sunday morning for our usual full schedule. And even though I was low on sleep and was looking forward to some decompression time, I just felt like I loved those students a lot more. I felt more patient, more willing to give of my time, and more willing to be a loving pastor. I'm thankful that God used the trip to remind me why I do what I do: I do it because God loves those students, and so do I.

Loving Teenagers
I just got back Saturday from a backpacking trip with our youth. We took a van and a bus to Colorado, then spent 5 days and 4 nights on the trail. For me, it was the perfect trip as a youth pastor. Once we arrived at Noah's Ark (I'll post more on this amazing organization later), everything was taken care of, and our team and I could focus on loving the students. It was also great to not be able to be reached for a full five days. It's been a very busy summer at church, and to just be a shepherd to our students was just what the doctor ordered. Nothing really groundbreaking happened during the week in my group of high school guys, although I'm sure God did things that I won't know about for years, if ever.
